Job Purpose:
Appleyard & Trew LLP are seeking to recruit an experienced Building Surveyor or Senior Building Surveyor to join their team and work within their East Midlands office.
We are a private practice of Chartered Building Surveyors, Quantity Surveyors and Project Managers, active in many sectors of the construction industry including residential (private sector, high-net-worth property, luxury property developments and public sector), listed building / conservation, ecclesiastical, retail, leisure, health, education and industrial.
Involvement in projects range from providing a traditional Building Surveying service from design, specification, and project management. We provide a modern and team ethos-based working environment, which enables us to provide a high level of service to our wide range of clients.

Key Role Responsibilities & Accountabilities
Our ideal candidate will have an RICS accredited Building Surveying degree and working towards or be chartered with the CIOB or RICS.
The tasks you will be expected to be involved in with support from the Partners / Associate Partners are:
- Providing advice on the design, construction, maintenance, repair, and refurbishment of all types of buildings and sites.
- Undertaking inspections on site using surveying equipment to collect information / data for acquisition surveys, condition reports, measured surveys and defect investigations.
- Defect diagnosis and reporting.
- Preparing detailed condition reports, planned and preventative maintenance surveys and photographic schedules of condition.
- Preparing designs using AutoCAD for proposed building works which include refurbishment, layout alterations, extensions, new builds, external works, ramps, car parks etc.
- Prepare detailed schedules of works, specifications and tender documentation.
- Contract administration using standard JCT forms of contract.
- Listed Building Consents, Planning Consent Applications, Building Regulations Applications,
- Project manage works on site overseeing quality of workmanship, cost management, snagging and taking the role as Contract Administrator.
- Party Wall Surveyor.
- Preparing Schedules of Dilapidations and negotiating settlements.
