Ashton Old Baths Progress Update

Ashton Old Baths Progress Update

Further to our progress update back in September where we reported on the unexpected discovery of the original terrazzo tiled floor at Ashton Old Baths, we are delighted to report on the continued impressive progress on site.

Original trusses have been exposed and will no doubt be a talking point in the newly created office space, not to mention the original feature windows which are being retained and lovingly restored.

The Old Library in Erith

The Old Library in Erith

Labour overcomes all things…

The strip out has started on Grade II listed building at The Old Library in Erith, within the London Borough of Bexley.

This is Phase 2 of a wider scheme which includes installation of new glazed partitions, restoration of the 1st and 2nd floor original features, a new lift and building services.

The Old Library is an important historic community facility that is now being run by The Exchange, and has received funding from the Arts Council England, National Lottery Heritage Fund and Community Fund amongst others.

Appleyard & Trew LLP are QS on the scheme, supporting the London Borough of Bexley, The Exchange, Robin Lee Architects and main contractor GA Harpers to deliver this scheme to budget, on time and to the required quality.

Kevin McGloin BSc(Hons) MSc MRICS, LLP Partner, was on site this week for a progress meeting and was delighted to receive a delicious birthday cake! The cake was hand made by the very talented chef from The Exchange’s Bookstore Cafe, which was fitted out as part of Phase 1. Well worth a visit for coffee, brunch and dinner too!
